About
Journalism and Film are the perfect breeding grounds for creative births and expression. This idea has lead to the formation of JAFA, Notre Dame’s official film and journalism society.We understand that a successful career in the film and media industry requires a versatile skill set, experience and an incredible amount of commitment.So being the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, eager students that we are, we aim to cultivate skills required in the industry, captivate with innovative ideas and finally, create, create, create!
Film
Our main focus is creating short-films and documentaries with strong emphasis in writing, direction, production, camera and lighting, sound and art department roles. All pre and post production elements are executed by students from the university and everyone is welcome to get involved.
Journalism
JAFA’s second focal point is the wonderful world of journalism. We encourage anyone who is interested in writing to submit pieces to our blog. We also work in association with SAUNDA's publication team to produce content for the up and coming University Newsletter.
With the intention of promoting all the write things, students are urged to produce content that is witty, honest, fantastically critical and equally creative.

Lecture Recording
JAFA would like to introduce lecture and class recording for Notre Dame University. We have a small student-based team to capture and share talks by professors and speakers visiting Notre Dame. The lectures will only be shared with the university organisation, with the permission of the speakers.
All recordings will be shared through a password encoded Vimeo account, where students and staff will be able to freely access content.

Movie Showcase Night
At the end of every year, JAFA hosts a showcase to celebrate the standout short films and short documentaries produced by students.
Last year's showcase was an absolute hoot! Held at Dendy in Newtown, the night boasted an array of weird and wonderful pieces to finish the year off with a bang. A people's choice award was given to Hayley Flynn, Director of Wraith Woods', who won best film of the night.
This year, we hope to raise the stakes with prize money and double the amount of attendees.

Fort-nightly Meetings
Students meet up every fort-night to workshop new ideas and projects JAFA can take on.
Weather you act, write, edit, or do make-up, everyone is welcome to join.
